Eyes

• Safety goggles and faceshield are recommended.

Skin

• Uniform, protective suit, rubber gloves are recommended.

Respiratory

• Respiratory protection required if airborne concentration exceeds TLV.
• There are no cartriges for methanol vapors.
• Handling operations should be conducted in a chemical fume hood.
• At concentrations above 200 ppm, a self-contained breathing apparatus is advised.

Special Precautions

• Ventilation: Use general or local exhaust ventilation to meet TLV requirements.
• Bond and ground containers when transferring liquid.
• Storage:

1. Keep container tightly closed.
2. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, flammable liquid storae area.

Health

Effects:

• Inhalation: This substance is harmful and may be fatal. May cause headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, narcosis, respiratory failure, low blood pressure, central nervous system depression.

• Skin: May cause irritation. Prolonged contact may cause dermatitis.

• Eye: May cause irritation and temporary corneal damage.

• Ingestion: This material is harmful and may be fatal. May cause blindness, headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, gastrointestinal irritation, central nervous system depression, and hearing loss.

• Medical conditions aggravated by exposure: eye disorders, skin disorders, liver and kidney disorders.

• Primary routes of entry: inhalation, ingestion, eye contact, skin contact, absorption.

First Aid:

• Inhalation: If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, giver artificial respiration,. If breahting is difficult, give oxygen. Prompt action is esential.

• Eyes: In case of eye contact, immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

• Skin: In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 mintes while removing contamintated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before re-use

• Ingestion: If swallowed, if conscious, give large amounts of water. Induce vomiting.

• Unusual Fire Hazards: Vapors may flow along surfaces to distant ignition sources and flash back. Closed containers exposed to heat may expplode. Contact with strong oxidizers may cause fire. Burns with a clear, almost invisible flame.
